Amazon Prime India officials said that over 100 million global Prime members, including India, will find this the best Prime Day celebration yet.
Amazon’s annual event announced its Prime Day which will be held on July 16 – July 17 at noon. India will be among the 17 countries participating in the event hosted for the company’s loyal customers. This will give the Indian Prime members access to hundreds of top global Prime Day deals for the first time.
Amazon Prime has over 100 million international subscribers, with around 10 million estimated in India. The company is planning to leverage its Prime Now app in four cities on Prime Day. The membership offers two-hour deliveries to the customers across various categories including smartphones and electronics. Amazon India will offer around 200 new launches during the Prime Day this year. There are said to be over 40 million products available for the Prime members. Brands such as OnePlus, Nestlé NesPlus, Marks & Spencer, Bosch, HP, Acer, GAP, Asics among others will launch new products.
Last year, Amazon India witnessed a sale of more than one million products during the Prime Day. It was the first such event the international company held in India after the launch of Prime in 2016. The company will also offer new experiences to customers like Virtual Reality (VR) outlets at 11 malls across Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Chennai and Kolkata. Head of Amazon Prime India, Akshay Sahi said, “Prime memberships had more than doubled since the last Prime Day. Amazon is also looking to offer new content through its Prime Video and Prime Music offerings in the run-up to Prime Day.” Amit Agarwal, SVP & Country Manager, Amazon India said that Prime members in India can enjoy more than 200 exclusive product launches. There will also be thousands of deals at low prices and blockbuster entertainment launches on Prime Video and Amazon Prime Music, he added.
