The company has already started recruitment process in Bangalore; looking for people to work on AI, machine learning and blockchain. The office location is not yet decided.
A team of professionals is being hired by Reliance Jio to work on Artificial Intelligence (AI), machine learning and blockchain, among others. The company is planning to set up this team either in Bangalore or Hyderabad. Reliance Jio has hired a few senior professionals to build this team. The team would be working under the Reliance group’s scion, Akash Ambani.
Reliance Jio has a user base of 180 million since its launch in September 2016. The company entered the telecom market aggressively providing cheap data and free voice services. It also came up with a ‘Free Jio Phone’ which was available at a refundable deposit of Rs. 1,500. It now wants to feature AI and strengthen its pure 4G network to the next phase of growth to 5G. Jio also launched ‘JioInteract’ in May, which was an AI based platform for movie promotion and brand engagement.
Reportedly, Akash Ambani is extremely keen and exciting about the venture. He had, in January, hinted on making use of AI for Reliance. During his inaugural address at the India Digital Open Summit in Mumbai, Ambani claimed that AI would be one of the mainstream technologies globally. Jio’s rival Bharti Airtel also focused on AI in April this year. The company appointed Santanu Bhattacharya as its Chief Data Scientist to bring in innovation for its customers and leverage data science capabilities and analytics.
Indian Tech Startups are all inducing AI in their existing platforms or are definitely considering it. Even other industries are considering AI and new technology to bring innovation to their products.
