Zomato is being built in a way that makes all the interactions between a restaurant and a user comfortable and easy. Company’s CEO claims that they already have a strong restaurant search and discovery portal, food ordering, table reservations and loyalty programs; and are continuously working on building more use cases for the users and partners.
Leading online food delivery platform Zomato launched its operations in 25 new cities making its total count to 63, this month. The new cities are: Vijayawada, Manipal, Raipur, Madurai, Jodhpur, Shimla, Thrissur, Gorakhpur, Manali, Alappuzha, Ooty, Kota, Trivandrum, Dharamshala, Jammu, Haridwar, Jalandhar, Rishikesh, Mussoorie, Udupi, Cuttack, Ajmer, Palakkad, Pushkar and Srinagar. The company has stated that they will now possibly add a similar number of cities each month.
Zomato is internationally present in 24 countries and serves over 50 million users every month. Global Head of Listings Business at Zomato, Oytun Calapover said that the Indian market is their topmost priority and they will continue the expansion and build their presence to every corner of the country. He added that the company is doing everything to take their business to more cities in order to enable the growth of the restaurant industry and help the audience make better food choices. The restaurant review and food delivery app is currently available in 17 cities hoping that the number will go up. It was launched in May 2015 and the current cities are Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Pune, Kochi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Indore, Coimbatore, Vadodara, Nagpur, Lucknow and Ludhiana.
While coping up with increasing competition with rival Swiggy, the food-tech startup isn’t far behind. The company claims that it wants to build on its existing order and delivery level which is at 10.5 million a month, more than a fifth of what Zomato handles globally, including India. They offer unique and complete services on their platform other than just food delivery. Their services also include restaurant search and discovery, table reservations and loyalty programs. It also runs a premium membership programme called Zomato Gold which is currently 400,000 members strong.
