The department of marketing and growth, digital payments at Mobikwik was being headed by Damandeep Singh Soni who has reportedly quit the company. Soni confirmed his exit stating that he is looking for new opportunities outside the firm.
Prior to the fresh exit, another senior department management head Vineet Singh had quit the company in April this year. Vineet was the Chief Business Operator of the company who had joined Mobikwik in December 2016. Even prior to this, Rukaiya Rangwala, payment gateway business head and Vivek Sinha retail business head had left the company in April and May this year, respectively. Akash Gupta, who was the Vice President and head of marketing at Mobikwik had also resigned from the firm in November last year to launch his own startup Mobycy.
Soni joined the company in December 2016, and has helped push growth of the company in his 18-month long tenure. He has previously founded ventures such as ConceptGears, PerceptKnorigin and Planet Gogo. He has also headed chatting app, Line, and has been a business development head at Infosys in the past.
Even amidst major re-shuffling in the company, Mobikwik has been looking to positively expand its digital payments business while it recently went live with its ‘ikwik’ handle. The Gurgaon based Japanese company competes with the likes of biggies like PayTM and PhonePe which are backed by giants Alibaba and Walmart, respectively. Mobikwik is backed by Bajaj Finance.
